The Coast Guard's duties include maritime law enforcement, search and rescue, environmental protection, and military defense.
The Coast Guard is part of the armed forces of the under the Department of Homeland Security. In peacetime, it patrols coastlines and protects waterways from terrorist attacks as well as natural disasters such as oil spills or pollution. In wartime, it maintains ports and harbors to facilitate troop arrivals and departures and provides medical care for casualties.

Coast Guard is a civilian maritime rescue service of the United States. The Coast Guard's responsibilities include maritime safety, search and rescue, icebreaking, environmental protection, and law enforcement.

The Indian Coast Guard is a civilian maritime rescue service under the Ministry of Defence. It has been created as an armed force to protect India's sovereignty and territorial integrity. The Indian Coast Guard was established on 1 January 1983 by the Government of India Act on the recommendation of the Shastri Committee which had been set up in 1972 to examine how best to strengthen coastal security in India.

The Coast Guard has been in existence since 1790, but it was only in 1965 that the force was formally established as a separate entity from the navy. The scope of duties and responsibilities has also changed over time. For example, during World War II, the Coast Guard had to deal with both military and civilian matters at sea. However, since then they have remained primarily responsible for maritime security and law enforcement in India's territorial waters.

Although there are no formal requirements to become a member of this force, you must be at least 18 years old to apply for this job opportunity in India. You must also be physically fit for this position.
