Watch maker
A watchmaker makes a timepiece that is made to continuously give the correct time. Watches were invented in the 16th century and were used as a way of telling the time.

The first watches were mechanical, meaning they needed to be wound up. This was done by turning a crown on the side of the watch. In 1837, John Harrison invented an accurate marine chronometer which helped sailors find their longitude when they were at sea.

In 1875, American watchmaker Elizur Wright patented his design for an electric-powered watch which would not need winding or recharging and could be sold at a much lower price than existing watches because it required fewer parts.

The first digital electronic quartz watch was created in 1970 by Seiko Corporation and was called Astron 35SQ
